27 year refresh - can of worms

Not posted on here for a while, Saff has been sitting sulking in the garage for 2-3 years whilst life has zoomed past.

Decided to pull the engine as I want to modify the sump to accommodate an oil return from the breather (what do you recommend?)

Engine was rebuilt in 2002, and hasn't been out since, only done circa 30k miles in that time. On removal found that something had destroyed itself inside the bell-housing, made a right mess. Been fortunate that it hasn't done any real damage and god knows when it happened, possibly years ago, bit of snooping around revealed it to be one of the starter internal bolts had worked loose and launched itself into the clutch etc. The clutch has been in since I bought the car in '95, and still has plenty of life left in it, although the planned power hike will shorten that considerably I imagine. Anyway, found the retaining assembly for the clutch actuator arm is smashed, does anyone do a replacement for these?

Any pointers re the sump much appreciated. I've a feeling this thread may grow arms and legs.......

You can replace the retainer with a bolt. Just punch the old retainer out, thread the hole and fit a bolt with locktite.
