Default New Noisy tappets,am I using the correct oil???

I bought my saph as a non running project,I did get it started before handing over money and I can't remember the tappets being noisy.
After an 8 month period where the car was not started or turned over I got it running and quickly noticed the engine was a bit noisy on tick over and when revving.
So I thought easy fix,new ina tappets from msd.
Soaked them for a few days in oil then fitted them, started the car up and held it at 2000 rpm for ten mins.
Still ticking.......seems to be noisy all over the cam cover but worse at cylinder 4 exhaust tappets.
Only other thing that's changed is when it was serviced I had ford fill it with fuchs Titan pro 10/50 oil, could thus be too thin?
I know a lot of people are using it and think its great but I'm not sure it's agreeing with my car.
I'll need to check what was in it before to compare.
Any advice would be great.

Normally 10/50 oil is good.

Have it in mine to for years.

Edit ; they put some 5w50 in this time, but all good.

Hope you didn't fit the tappets into their cylinder by using a magnet? That oil is fine and not too thin if anything it's on the thick side.

I'd just give it more time, do you have an oil pressure gauge?

Clean the oil channels in the head, it`s often a lot of dirt in there who decreases oil to lifters

I use Fuchs Titan Pro S 10/50 all the time too, burns like a charm

Has your oil pressure changed since fitting the new tappets?

Philip.

Not got a gauge to check, old followers came out with a magnet.
It seems to be the same area as before that's noisy, checked timing and its good.
Done around 30 miles since fitting them and its not getting any better than it was after 10 mins after initial firing up.
Need to get a stethoscope and have a listen.
Getting to the end of my tether with the car now, very close to seriously considering selling it as just spent Ł1500 in the engine bay only as I had to change the followers and its not much better.

Wwould that be with an airline?
The car has done 35500 miles and has been serviced yearly no matter the miles, think it had done 3-400 miles since its last oil change when I put the Fuchs in.

In an ideal world they would be quiet straight away as they're brand new but I can imagine you having to go a little drive first and get the car proper upto tempreature.

Done around 30 miles in it,3 journeys,2 5 miles and 2 10 miles,cooled down in between.
Cam lobes looked fine, cam bearings looked fine, old tappets looked fine,no wear and were ina items.

Which would be 2 teeth out which in turn makes the inlet valves touch the pistons hence the clatter

Also if the head has been skimmed the need for adjustable pulleys to get the timing correct esp if power is what you require.

I had this on mine, check the cam bolts are tight. Mine must have stretched slightly over the years and when they slackened off a bit it sounded like the tappets where screwed. I ended up replacing the bolts, no noises since!!
