Default fuel pump rewire

Hi

Ive got a fuel pump rewire kit for my 2wd cosworth.
Now this might be a silly question but do you run the wire under the carpet to the pump or under the vehicle?

Cheers
Mark

I did mine last week , put the fuse in the boot behind the jack cover , then ran the wire through the passenger side boot then under the rear seat and along the passenger sill into the passengers footwell where there is a grommet that comes out pretty close to the battery

Fuse should be near the battery.

Exactly. If the cable between the fuse and battery should short then you would be risking fire.

On the re wire loom I bought it was located in the boot along with the relay , then two wires ran from that along the original routing through the boot floor to the pump

So the only part of your loom that was fused, was the part from the relay to the pump, what about the 8 feet of cable running through the car to the battery

If that shorted out it would be a big mess.
Put an aditional fuse by the battery to be SAFE......

Or have you just wired it back to front by accident?

Just stick a fuse on battery end and you are done

Who supplied the kit then? I'd stick to buying MSD's (auto dynamix) stuff from now on then.

You generally don't need to rewire it completely - only the bit from the connector in the boot to the pump is rotten.

Think it's more to help with voltage losses than to replace corroded wiring which is why people buy the new loom to go straight to the battery and has its own relay and fuse.

Correct, although the old wiring does cause this, due to resistance.

In addition, the voltage drops generally via the fuse box (which is overloaded anyway).

So wiring directly from the battery eliminates this, as well as alleviating the load on the above.
