Powder Coating
allright guys, in the middle of painting various suspension and underbody parts like anti roll bar, steering knuckles, brackets, trailing arms ect and im thinking now my best bet is to get it all powder coated to get the best most durable finish.
My question is how much am i looking at ROUGHLY for a boot full of suspension like steering knuckles & hubs, anti roll bars, half moon brackets, trailing arms, rear beam, top mount plates ect.
Ball park figure and any advise cheers

Maybe £100 to £200 Depends how well prepped they are. My chap dips in a hot acid type bath (same as he uses for wheel refurb) then uses a sand blaster and then does the powder coat.
I have heard of cheaper though

I was going to prep myself to be honest only to ensure all bits i want left bare (treads and bearing/bushing areas) are masked off well. unless i really trusted the guys doing it would do a good job. Thinking of haveing it all done in gloss white, anyone recomend a good powder coating place in birmingham???

If it is the kind of thing you do a lot of, it isn't hard to setup to do it yourself for the smaller bits... ARBs and larger stuff probably best farming out though unless you are willing to build yourself a big enough oven... but powder isn't expensive, and hobbyist guns are right down in price now... hell if you are correctly minded you can make your own - I have an old lucas ignition coil and thats what that is going to be reborn as lol

on and for prep for any ferrous bits, electrolysis works a treat, is a peice of pi$$ to setup, and safe
Can do any size of part, smaller parts you can do in those plastic tubs you get in shops, larger parts with a plywood frame and a couple of plastic sheets to create a basin. Next to zero effort, just put em in the tank and leave. I just done the missus callipers - they were rustier than the titanics anchor and as per, a wire brush wouldn't touch it, just sort of polished it. Plus never got into the nooks and crannies.
22 hours in the electrolysis tank while I was free to work on other stuff, and they came out bare iron, all the thick deposits basically hosed off.
So that could save you some money right there on prep, plus its a pretty cool process to play with.

If you're in Birmingham give City Powder Coaters a bell.
http://www.citypowdercoaters.co.uk/
Price list includes bike frames, swing arms etc so they should be able to do your suspension bits ok.
Did a few sets of alloys for me a few years back - top job and quite cheap.

Been wanting to paint all the parts you mentioned for 6 months, looked at electrolysis and did some small parts which came out well but trying to scale up to do a rear beam etc. was more trouble than it was worth so bought a soda blasting kit which I have not used due to problems with the compressor so last week I took the rear beam, arms, front hubs, sub frame and gearbox cross member, anti roll bar etc. etc. in to get them cleaned and powder coated, the estimated cost is £200. Will let you know the final price when its completed, been a slight delay as I forgot to remove 2 bushes. getting all the bushes pressed out and the hubs stripped down has added another £100 to the bill

As labour intensive and time consuming as it is ive been using wire cup attatchments on an angle grinder removing all rust ect, parts are coming up grear back to bear metal so I dont think they will even need sand blasting ect just the prep before powdercoating, Im just deciding on a colour im thinging a gloss white as all my engine detailing is white and it doesnt get driven in the rain. Dont want to go for the standard boring black. But yeah cheers buddy aprciate that
