Default 4x4 front diff removal

I have developed a bad leak on my front diff to the point you carnt keep any oil in it, how big of a job is it to remove looks tight to get out,
Any advise on how to go about the job?
Car will be on a lift aswell so easy access
Cheers

Down pip;e off ,
bottom diff plate off remove cir-clip of from inside the casing to drivers side drive shaft
Remove drivers side bottom ball joint
pull drive shaft out of the casing taking care to not pull the inner joint apart
undo all the mounting bolts and bracket that support the diff
Then swivel around and get a levy bar just to prize the diff off the intermediate shaft and hey presto

Its a awkward job but not hard did mine with a couple of cups of tea in about 2 hours complete

Best regards Jay

The leak is probably only the bottom plate, I would remove that, drain the fluid and have a look. If rebsealing that doesn't do it then unbolt the steering rack and pull it forward. With the drive shafts out you can remove the circlip said inside the diff and pull the cups / drive flanges out. The diff can then be dropped out.
I would try re-sealing the bottom plate first. I used a squirty gasket from halfords and slowly tightened all the bolts.

Thatl do then, I have had the bottom plate of and re sealed it but it didn't make any difference, I never noticed a circlip holding the drive shaft in when I was looking in there tho
Or do some people not replace these?

Will try and remove the diff and replace the seals, I'm guessing the sump is separate and isn't going to empty all over the place when the diff is pulled out?

You might lose some when you remove bits on the passenger side but that is easy to top up.
