How do you test the fuel pump on a 2wd saff, when I turn the ignition on the pump doesn't make a noise and if you put your hand on the pump you can feel a little movement and when you crank the engine over you can feel movement but it is silent are they supposed to make a noise?

Does anyone have any things for me to check?

if it was me I'd put 12v direct to the pump just to check the pump actually runs.
my pump buzzes most times on turning the ignition on.

Okay I will try that, but being not very good with electrics and it is the old pump type which one is negative black or yellow?

I'm sure it's the black with red trace that is positive,,but to double check use a muti-meter.

The power wires to them can drop voltage with age, and thats why alternative looms are available. So put the full voltage on as your first check - as noted above

As suggested the old wiring loom could be dropping the voltage to the pump. If you can afford it, for peace of mind get a new fuel pump and a fuel pump wiring loom. If its still the original pump its pretty old now and probably worn out.

Done a test today straight from the battery still the same, so im assuming the pump is dead.

Already got the wiring upgrade which fits into a 044 pump so will be looking for one of them now

Just a word of caution regarding getting a GENUINE Bosche 044 fuel pump. There are non genuine copies out there so buy one from a reputable source.

Are the non genuine ones any good?

There was a thread on here a while back on this subject and some people were not happy with the non-genuine ones. I would rather pay a bit more and have the genuine Bosche one.

Its the yellow connector on the fuel pump, I ran a wire from the battery and it is not working, like it is jammed so I will be ordering a new one.
