T5 speedo drive

Anyone know where these are available from? My speedo has been a bit twitchy lately and stopped working earlier. The cable seems ok so I'm presuming it's the drive in the gearbox worn

speedo

is it clipping into the rear of the clocks correctly?-some break the tabs and dont stay located for long-you get the twitching then total loss...

I'm having a nightmare lately with this bloody business. Apparently you can't get them anymore. They seem to go for crazy money on the bay too. I got a spare from Gary @ RS Classics. Think that was his last one though but I could be wrong. The speedo drive that the cable slots into is the part I'm talking about.

I thought my speedo drive was gone too cos I had no speedo on the clocks. Replaced the cable, same thing. Checked the speedo drive and it was good!, after me spending close on £100 for a spare!! Turns out the plastic gear on the main shaft inside the box, has feckin disintegrated :wall: I managed to source another box which I got for cheap, that was some balls too cos they're so so bloody expensive and are close on 30 years old!

I'm swapping the box in a few weeks so hopefully it'll work.

Hope you can find one matey ;-)

Philip.

I'll investigate more Tuesday when my mates garage is open. I'll try the drill on the end of the cable trick to check it :)

For the plastic gear bit these are available in USA for numerous Tremec boxes and not expensive. I've bought a few for my Tremec box, and I think IIRC there are numerous product no's for different types of boxes. Mine looks identical to a T5 one save the little nose bit is a bit longer, but nothing a sharp knife or hacksaw wouldn't fix.
They're peanuts in the states. Colour coded according to the no. of teeth if you're messing around with wheel size etc.

You mean the bit that goes on the shaft or in the drive itself?!

Any links where to get from?!
