Didn't race, the F40 driver had his young son as a passenger which was a good reason why we shouldn't have.

Fullflush 29-06-2014 09:43 PM

Two great cars

massivewangers 29-06-2014 09:54 PM

Maximum respect to the guy for driving it, bet most are well and truly locked away now. Two 80s icons right there!

Agree, cars are for driving, such a shame most of these cars including 500's are tucked away under cover.

Harris. 30-06-2014 07:50 AM

Love the F40 !! and sure it would have won lol

Maxwell 30-06-2014 05:00 PM

The rear shot pic is outstanding. Absolute 80s porn in a nutshell

BRIGSPORT 30-06-2014 05:56 PM

The Sierra and f40 have the same wind resistance and weight don't they?? If I'm correct then surely it would have all been decisive on engine performance :D great pics!!

neil andeRSon 30-06-2014 07:24 PM

I'd love to see an F40 in the flesh! They are my all time favourite car!

PaulinhoT 30-06-2014 07:27 PM

The Crocodile Hunter 30-06-2014 08:34 PM

Cool pics! F40 still looks amazing!

Went to le mans last year and some of the motors we saw on the crossing and on the way down were epic.

Definitely going again next year

Cilly-jey 01-07-2014 03:52 PM

RWD_cossie_wil 01-07-2014 03:56 PM

Andy is that yours ???:god:

Fil 01-07-2014 04:51 PM

The F40 another car thats value has gone nuts

for years they were around 200k, then sat at 250k for awhile, then over night doubled to 500k, and in the last couple of years people are asking 750k.

will soon be a million pound car!

Caddyshack 01-07-2014 05:48 PM

Trevor Reeves (autocross champ) was chucked the keys of an F40 at the ring, it was spitting flames and spinning up the rears just from the boost on down changes.

There is a chap who regularly takes one on RMA track days. Nice bloke too

No, in 7k miles abroad it's only had a dodgy electric window switch so far

Glenn_ 02-07-2014 04:27 AM

Who says cossies are unreliable.

MARCOSWORTH 02-07-2014 05:21 AM

Stunning set

Was but I converted it back and fitted a TKO600 box.

costina 04-07-2014 07:20 PM

One of our customers had one with 6k on the clock and still had the original tyres.

And they share the same weber marelli system used on a cossie but 2 of them....

Cool pics Martin

The Great Pretender 04-07-2014 07:31 PM

The F40 is what dreams are made of.

Everyone. But they're an icon so they're allowed.

They're not unreliable if maintained and spec'd correctly, I gave up on working on them as there's too many shitters out there.

oops no I don't own it sadly - but a photoshoot is planned coincidentally with my 500.

Glenn_ 06-07-2014 01:26 PM

Yeh there defo not unreliable. I trust mine 100% and ive been all over the country in mine.

gjh 07-07-2014 06:56 PM

What a pair!!! Would of been quite interesting to see who would come pout on top if you had opened them both up mind (I've read why you both didn't fair play)

Mike1 12-07-2014 09:34 AM

If you like F40s have a look at the article in the new EVO mag. One of the writers drives one back through the Alps to save the owner making the trip.
An RS500 in convoy would have made an even better article :)

Nailed it there Martin - too many people trying to run them on pennies and not doing the basic stuff. A local high end car specialist says people will come in with an old 911 and not flinch at 3k of maintenance but not want to spend £300 on maintaining the same performance in an old Sierra. A lot comes down to the owners mindset in his opinion. He looks after a 500 for a guy who's well off and has Ferraris/Porsches and says it's way more reliable than some of the similar age Italian stuff.

Back in 90s a mate of mine had a Sapphire 2wd and in the early hours 1 day on his way to catch a boat to France he came across an xj220 on the motorway going the same way. He nailed it past him 3 or 4 times to try and get him to give it some. When he finally did my mate never caught sight of him again.
