T5 box sitting too high after Vibra technics

I've recently fitted my Vibra technics gearbox mount to my 2wd saph, however it looks like the box is sat too high up as the 4 bolts at the gearstick side are touching the chassis :?...

Can't really see how i've fitted it wrong as there wasn't much in the kit.

Has anyone fitted one of these before?

Ade500 14-01-2014 06:57 PM

Yep I will see if I have a pic , but mine wasn't too high if anything it sat lower.

Ok here is a few pics, I noticed that the bolts for the box fouled the mount.

Both sides and it didn't pull up right so filed it for clearance. Then the mount actually touched the cradle so had to clearance that as well.

Attachment 70378

Again both sides.

No wonder people moan about vibration if they are all like this. Ps t5 in a 3door.

Thanks for the pictures mate.

I've fitted mine exactly the same. Might see if i can space it out somehow.

I fitted one to my Sapph and removed it straight away does not fit well very poorly made fitted a brand new standard one and feels awesome.

I bought directly brand new via a supplier and had a part missing to which they sent me one out asap, however thought the kit looks good, just strange having the gearbox sitting higher

Unless I chopped it around I wouldn't be able to fit it well and believe you shouldn't have to mess around with something like that so decided to fit a standard one instead.

dojj 14-01-2014 07:32 PM

are you sure its the right mount and not one for the 4wd box instead?

or is there only one? because they should list them separately shouldn't they?

L1AM_RS 14-01-2014 07:49 PM

Yeah deffinetly for the 2wd. I'll get some snaps tomorrow to show you.

BRAMMER 14-01-2014 11:26 PM

I got mine cheap so decided to see for myself if they were bad and with Ade's little pointer i could clearly see where the vibration issues come from and modded mine the same and guess what nothing at all and feels really solid - my box doesn't sit any higher can't even think where you'd go wrong it's that simple :?

MARCOSWORTH 15-01-2014 05:22 AM

Have one on my saff and fits with no problems ;-)

Ade 15-01-2014 07:52 AM

That's pretty poor if they need that kind of attention to make them fit. Really deserve to be sent back, but I guess most people will just carry on and make it fit rather than have an extra week of the car in bits...

If you wouldn't mind mate that'd be great

Mungus 20-01-2014 08:22 PM

Very interesting post this....

Ive got god awful vibrations on mine and I dont think the box sits right either. Havent yet got underneath mine yet to check the mount and if its a modded one.... but im willing to bet its just like the above

Moonstone Steve. 21-01-2014 05:35 PM

I must admit mine has a std mount and sits as high as that

Steve

DaveCrack 28-01-2014 03:56 PM

Had to mod mine too as the 2WD box was sitting too high with the VibraTechnics mount and I'm still under the impression its too high...

Are there any other options besides going back to std?

Ade500 28-01-2014 09:09 PM

A spacer or shim between the cradle and the shell.

DaveCrack 28-01-2014 10:17 PM

Thanks mate. I guess thats the only solution. I have horrible vibrations from the gearbox and think that the mount is sitting too high is the reason.

Yeah i think this is what my only option is.

Surely they must of tested fitment before manufacture?
