Default Heater not working in Sapphire

I've owned my Sapphire Cosworth since 1995. She was garaged in 2000 until last month and now back on the road - it's as much fun as I remember ! The problem is that the heater isn't working, the fan blows but always cold air even when engine up to temp.

I've taken the hoses off the heating matrix and flushed through and although the water was discoloured to start, it now runs clear but still blows cold.

Has anyone got any ideas of what to try next ?? Any help appreciated !

where are you in Wiltshire?

Are the matrix pipes hot too? if not oil modine could be blocked.
if they are hot then the heater flap is jammed in the cold position

Regards

Paul

Thanks for your comments !

I've just checked with mechanic who got her going and he put a new stat in so doubt if it's that.

Matrix pipes do get hot but i think it's heat transferred from exhaust manifold.

I'll check oil modine.

You can hear the heater flap move when you move the control on dash so again, doubtful.

I'm just outside Warminster..

Again, many thanks

Your a bit far from me. Hope you get it sorted as sean said could be matrix and 35 pounds would be a fairly cheap fix.

I'll check pipes and if they're ok, I'll order a new matrix and give that a go.

Thanks all for your help !

Don't believe it, went to work and heat started to come through heater. Haven't had time to look at matrix, pipes or pump. Perhaps it was a blockage or air in system somewhere but whatever it was has cleared - strange !
