Exact differences between 3dr and Sapphire hubs?
I want to better the roll centre and overall geometry of my Saph at some point... wondering if anyone know exactly the differences between the two designs?
Are we talking a couple of millimetres, or is it a substantial difference?

So just any 3dr? RS500 not even better?
Although knowing Ford and their ways, I wonder if all Mk1 Sierras got the 3dr lower roll centre?
And quite sure all later Sierra hubs RS or not are identical apart from the obvious 2WD/4WD aspect.

lots of misinformation there though but if you want the basic steering to be different then it's easier to find the 4wd stuff, just make sure you use everything 4wd, because the hubs need the larger shocks and the arb changes the steering geometry (and you need to use the 4wd crossmember in order to fit the 4wd rack, but the 4wd crossmember needs you to use 4wd engine mounts and engine mount arms so it's a bit of faff)
but at least the parts are easier to soruce

And how does using a complete 4wd front setup improve the roll center?
In fact I think using 4wd hubs and shocks and the rest of it all 2wd will also improve the roll center, but I'm not entirely sure. The mounting points on the 4wd hubs are also lower because the tcas connect to the subframe lower. In theory I think that using the 2wd subframe with the 4wd hubs should improve the angle of the tcas and therefore also improve the roll center.

Don't think the 4x4 parts have any effect on roll centre just give more castor?
Already got that sorted with adjustable top mounts.
Also I've got 2WD coilovers fitted, so much better to stick with all 2WD stuff if possible.
Would still be curious to find out if 3dr hubs are unique, or it's just a Mk1 Sierra thing....
Anyone got some 3dr hubs for sale?

A hub pretty much looks like a hub when you don't know the exact differences to look for when buying after all....

If you look at the picture you can see there is about 2.5 cm between the plastic cap (that goes over the bearing nut) on the inside of the hub and the tca mounting point at the bottom of the hub. If you compare this with standard Sierra hubs, or sapph cossie hubs, the mounting point is directly underneath the plastic cap.
One other difference is that the 2wd sapph cos uses a pinch bolt to mount the tca to the hub, while the 3dr hubs use a tapered pin with a castled nut, just like the standard Sierras.
