Does anyone know if 4x4 pulleys can be fitted to a 2wd ie water pump. Steering pump and alternator. Thanks anyone

the early 4x4 belts used twin v belts the late 4x4 went over to the multi groove serpentine belts ,which belts have you got ?
this is big turbo escort cosworth set up but you do not need to run the full set up with the big heavy mount you can use different set up & still use the multi groove belt but you will have to get a different length belt .

Andy thanks for your reply, I will try and explain my problem. I have a 2wd saff this has a 4x4 crank fitted to it. I was told that the 4x4 ran with a multi groove belt so to use the 2wd crank pulley. The 4x4 crank has a bigger shaft than the 2wd but the 2wd pulley will go on but will be tight. The problem I have now is how hard to get the pulley of is, that's why I have thought about putting on a 4x4 pulley now. Will the 4x4 V belt be ok on a 2wd set up? Ie the four pick points.
Cheers
Paul

Earlier 4x4's used the 2wd triple groove pulley.

That's interesting, does that mean they are the same and to get a 4x4 size one I need to get the multi groove one?

They are exactly the same pulley as far as I'm aware mate.

My car is a late car with the ribbed belt and the pulley has always been FOOKING tight on that!! :wall:
