changing the sapphire diff mount
What have you got to remove? much?
Is it just a case of get the rear on axle stands, then undo the four diff mount bolts and the diff will drop low enough to get the mount undone from the diff?
As currently there is a bump stop in the way of the two bolts going into the diff.

Yeh the bump stop comes off.I would put the car on axle stands then put a jack under the diff.There are 4 13mm bolts and then 2 bolts in the diff casing.
When you do this can you please let me know what the car handles like when you change it.I fancy a posh diff mount for mine.

Lots, if you can understand the suspension design then it will make sense, basically the rear beam is like a triangular affair, with this mount forming the top point, if this is sloppy the beam will have play in it, causing a change in the geometry in pretty much all forms of drivibg, coupled to the fact it's going to be knackered by now anyway, imo one of the best mods you can do, I just need to get myself one 
OP, those bolts can be removed with the bump stop in situ, I just used an extension, just make sure you have the diff supported first!

My made little difference, more stable when you release the gas after full throttle. Even when cornering feel the rear end more stable.

due to the "unique" way that ford built sierra's, some are easier to change than others
what you want to do is lift the rear of the car up and put some axle stands under the beam
then put a trolley jack under the diff to support it when you undo the bolts
get the arb bolts out first to get it dropped out of the way so you have more clearance
then undo the actual diff bolts, these may be a little tight so you may need big muscles/power bar to shift them
then use at least a 12" extension to undo the 4 13mm bolts and then lower the diff out of the way
the rubber bush/bung thing is there to stop the fuel tank splitting if you are rear ended onto the diff casing and it has been known to be just a little troublesome to remove
they are very easy to change but i'm not sure if you need to loctite the diff bolts back in again

I mentioned welding it solid as a joke but may try it today and fit to track car to try theory as some kits have solid alloy or nylon bushs which are as solid as you'll get, would be a cheapo alternative for a track car if no compliance is ok for location purposes !!!

well just fitted it! bit of a pain but got there,
undone the old mount and removed, the diff then sprung up about 5mm!
Trying to leaver it down and fit the allen bolts into the diffs a pain on your own.
Even more so when you find they are too long after some swearing
Had a quick search on here, seems common, as ford have a few variations over the years, so you need to chop about 8mm off.
Trying to do the 6mm allen key bolt up is a pain too, as not much fits in there, used a 6mm allen key screwdriver bit an 6mm spanner.
Still its all fitted now, and seems alot firmer, but didnt go for much of a drive.

I've got a solid mount on mine. Diff whine is a slightly louder (the car has done over 200k, original diff), but still not too loud, quieter than the exhaust anyway. No vibrations or any other nasties. I didn't have the car very long before I had it on, so can't really compare.
