4wd to 2wd
hi i have a 4x4 saph and wish i had bought a 2wd but i have just read in a mag that you can just remove the front shafts to make it rwd is this correct as i thought doing this i would have no drive at all and the only way was t5

If you remove only the front driveshafts, you still have the VC in the center differential which sends power to front diff via driveshaft. So I think to make 4wd 2wd by not using T5 & stuff, you should somehow disable the viscous coupling so that it doesn't 'steal' power to front diff and eventually to front wheels. But I don't think it still would be great idea as you still have the extra weight, crap gearbox and a rear diff which is not as tough as the 2wd one.

its alot of messing about m8 best way would be to do it properly and go all 2wd, if you dont wona spend loads then
2wd gearbox, shit plate,thrust bearing
2wd starter
2wd gear leaver
remove the front diff
use the outer cvs from 4x4 shafts
2wd front prop
use 4wd rear diff if not running loads of power
2wd gear box cross member
2wd speedo cable
or full 2wd conversion
t5 gear box, bell housing, thrust bearing and shit plate
gear box cradle mount
sump and complete oil pump
cross member
starter motor
steering rack
speedo cable
front hubs
front suspension
anti roll bar (very slight difference )
front brakes or make a 13mm spacer (off set wrong)
engine mounts and engine mounts that fasten to block
prop shaft
diff
drive shafts
rear subframe
you can use your 4x4 trailing arms
think thats about it
did mine on a car ramp wouldent advise doing it on the floor, engine can stay in,held mine with a length of 4x4
thats the proper conversion and the best 2wd is loads better
