Default Best place to buy a 2wd Cosworth clutch....

Hi Guys,

My car currently has a 6 paddle AP clutch and I am told it could be on its way out.

My question, where is the best place to buy another?

I found one on Burton Power and it was around £200. Everywhere else was double that at least...

Any ideas?

£200 will probably be the friction disc only.

you wont get a full ap 6 paddle clutch kit for £200 unless at trade prices and i dont think even they get them quite that cheap.

Matt Lewis is just under £500 I think, surely the clutch is not £500 just to buy? I can get the gearbox fully rebuilt for that?

a full clutch kit, i.e. cover and plate will be about that for one that can hold the power.

Got mine (an AP Organic) from Matt Lewis, one of the best prices around and have used him for yonks so knew he'd be sound to deal with.

If you do speak to him remind him I still need my Invoice, trying to sell the car and no paperwork for an expensive part is a pain

I have just been told an Organic clutch will handle my power which is the same as yours just different wheels that power it. Do you find your clutch to deal with it OK? Do you mind me asking what boost you run and if you have any slip, judder when pulling off etc?

I will try them all guys in my quest to find the best price I might have someone interested in her as she sits now. I keep looking at the old girl and thinking it would be rude to sell.

Si, also have you ever used Mike Barge? I was pointed to him regarding this issue, walked in, he asked a few questions and told me what was wrong. Seemed a nice guy, always smiling (I guess he would knowing I needed a new clutch in a cosworth lol) had a photo of his car on the wall for all to see which looked very nice. Lynx MOT centre told me he looks after a couple, his son has one and he has his in storage apparently. Just wondered if yours was one of the ones he looks after.. I know there is a black one parked around the corner from his workshop. CHK. The guy has a Sierra and a Escort and uses both to drive to work. Lucky git lol
