Default Saff roof. Rusted

To go with the rusty arch post, does anyone else have any rust issues around the front if the sunroof? Mines getting worse, mainly on the left corner, was wondering if anybody else had the same problem and what causes it, or just one of those things?

Bugger, didn't think it would back up that high if they were blocked!? I'll get an air line or a bit of wire down then, although its a bit late now....

Mine is bubbling on each side of the sunroof between the edge of the opening and the roof rack strips, would like to know the best way to repair this also, I was thinking of taking the roof lining out and cutting an access out of the inner skin to treat and repair it from there? annoying really as it is perfect every where else.

Mines going on the corners, will need cutting out and, I guess, a plate welded in...
Was thinking of having a go myself and doing a carbon wrap over the roof to cover it, although, probably cheaper to paint it!?

You will find that those little rust bubbles turn out to be big holes if you start pocking them

Carbon roof time?, would probably be cheaper in the long run.

Hi
THe only proper way to sort a rusty roof is to replace it
Buy a donna car take the screens out remove the gutter rail trims drill out the spot welds with a proper spot weld drill.
Carfully cut through the brazed sections in each corner and remove the roof.
Do the same to your cossy then get someone who knows what there doing to puddle weld your donna roof on.
All in all a lot of work
Both of the cars I have had with rusty roofs had had water leaks into them the evaporating water condences on the inside of the roof and starts the rot
Best of luck Tim.

I thinks it's a common problem.

I've found pipe cleaners very effective. U can buy novelty ones that are 30cm or more long, so ideal.

Then it's my trusty POR15, and liberal dousing of lanolin.

U could just cut out all the affected area, and replace with a metal plate. I saw someone who had done this a few years ago. For the headlining, he had used thick fabric with a self-adhesive backing

Mines had small bubbles either side of the sunroof for years, never got any worse but I know it will eventually.
