Using a Type 9 on a Cosworth
Hi guys
Looking for some straight cut gearbox for my 2WD cosworth one seller offers to me a Type 9 gearbox with straight cut kit saying that supports my horsepower and torque. Questions: - He says that I'm needed a Sierra XR4 bellhousing and no more. Is ok? I think that std cosworth flywheel and clutch don't fit with that gearbox but not sure. And what about the starter motor? Regards |
unless it v6 cossie engine xr4 bellhousing is wrong. dont think a type 9 would really be up to the job of the torque of a cosworth engine
|
Thought type 9's were only good for around 160bhp tops ?
|
Wow, now I've 420bhp and around the same torque but didn't find any other option with straight cut (Only Glebe T5 gearkit)
|
Whats wrong with the standard setup, T5 and plated rear diff

i have glebe in mine good kit but fecking noisey lol

I would go for the T5, the T9 is a good gearbox but not as strong AFIK
|
Type 9 would be useless at that power.
Quaife used to do a straight cut kit available from CTS. What's wrong with going Glebe? |

Lol at trying to compare a T9 to a T5, the latter is one of the strongest gearboxes fitted to a production Ford. Martin |

I broke 2 T9's in a bog standard XR4i. Good job they were cheap to replace.
