Default oil pressure light on half brightness

Need to find this problem urgently as I was going to follow the WRC here in NZ for the next 3 days. When the key is turned on the oil light comes on full brightness as usual but when the car starts goes dull. I don't think there is an oil pressure problem but you don't take chances with this sort of thing. Can anyone suggest what could cause this symptom. How would a faulty sender show up and where is it located on a 4x4. Thanks David

Default

pressure switch is above the starter by the oil filter
I would suggest you check the oil pressure whilst replacing the switch
the switches do go faulty and often leak
