4wd not working

My 4wd saph is only powering rear wheels . Could this be due to front diff?

Would low oil cause this? I will check it tomorrow..

JFB Tech 09-06-2012 11:04 PM

Most likely to be the centre viscous knackered. Oil level will not affect it as it's a sealed unit. Though obviously oil level is important, the chain would run dry and not last long otherwise. It would likely exit the transfer casing as well.

So what do I need to buy and replace. Cheers for help

dojj 10-06-2012 09:29 AM

You need to get the actual viscous coupling checked over

Can do it without removing the box but it's just as much grief to pull it out and get other stuff checked over at the same time :)

Longshanks 10-06-2012 09:35 AM

Sound like a pain in arse, and sounds like it going to cost a small fortune. Can the viscus coupling be changed ok

dojj 10-06-2012 10:56 AM

if you drop the back of the box down you can get to all the bolts you need to undo and remove the rear transfer cover case and withdraw the vc :top:

but it's still a pain in the arse doing it on the car as there is limited space
