the problem is WHO determines if 1 is needed or not. Tuners tend to contredict each other and i doudt there is a rule that if your engine has this, this and this it dont need 1.

Mine was live mapped without one,i've had this conversation with my 'tuner' many times and have to admit it is much more responsive without a d/v . So far i've had no relieabilty problems (3 years without it) fingers crossed

i haven't got a dump valve on my stage 3 saph cos i love the chatter and am only running 20psi. Although when i had the dump valve on i did notice a reduction in spool-up time between gears... the fresh cooler air must make a difference!!!... so i'm saying YES

If you can afford to insure a Cossie aged 18 then you're probably able to afford a Cossie with a DV, and one without

Who said anything about cossies, you dont need a cossie to have a dump valve, i had a mk1 astra gte with a turbo conversion when i was 18 with a dump valve, now im 29 i have an RS500 and no dump valve. dump valves sound shite, only my opinion mind.

d.v. defo impair the performance, you can defo feel the car pull quicker after a gearchange when you take valve off, turbo takes longer to spin up when d.v. fitted (obviously), i prefer not to dump
