braking disaster

fully restored my 3 door cossie .when fitting abs sensors i put vaseline in around sensors to keep out water dirt etc .abs light now comes on after driving for a few mins .is this because of vaseline or what should i use it looks like there was some sort of grease on them when i took them out.anyway i decided to test brakes at around 60 mph when i stood on brake back and front wheels lock up and car almost spun around 360.should back wheels lock up or is bias valve fucked .any replies would be helpfull thanks.

Sounds like a leaky accumulator , turn on ign and listen for brake booster pump starting to pressurize system.should not take longer than @ 30 seconds....you should get certain amount of brake press's before motor starts again.....can't remember the number...

If it comes on after driving its most likley a sensor. If it was on all the time i'd be looking at the other components. If something other than the sensor is faulty, the ABS light will be on from the moment you get to the second ignition position.

Agreed, mine's doing the same thing at the moment, the light comes on when you turn the ignition on, then goes out, then comes back on again when i start driving, dodgy sensor for sure

Check the abs rings are nice and clean.

it may have picked up a flake of rust which has fooled the abs sensors

does the light come on?

does the light come on after you've moved?

does the pump prime when you put it to ign 1?

etc

Almost certain down to a sensor, it's spot on what you have done putting the vaseline around the sensor, if you diden't they would sieze in the bore, this will in no way effect the operation though.

Check the sensors are all clean and that the ring gear is also clean as said, if there is dirt etc in between the teeth this will cause this.
