Cosworth gearbox oil seal

Hopefully going to be re-fitting the gearbox and propshaft to my 3dr next week so thought i might aswell fit a new rear seal before it goes back in.
Is there a certain type of seal i should get or doesnt it matter?
Do ford still do genuine ones? I seem to remember a while back reading a thread (cant remember if it was on this site or a different one) where somebody was recommending one sort of seal over another one. Also is it a good idea to replace the front seal aswell? I only seem to hear of people having problems with the rear seal.

To be honest I don't know if Ford still does these seals but you will propably find them on your local bearing/seal supplier...
It was Tabetha that recommended VITON seals instead of ordinary rubber ones and it's true, if you can find them on VITON then use that instead of ordinary since it seals better and it can withstand greater temperatures... It is more expensive like a rubber one will cost lets say 2 euro instead of 10-12 for a viton one but you get what you pay for... ;-)

As said defo go VITON, this is a proper high temp, high abrasion resistant seal.
Just let me know the numbers and I'll check for you, the numbers will be like 35-50-8 in that configuration, a std ident for bearings and seals which is inner diameter, outer diameter and width.
Can get most in Viton.

There was a thread recently from a dude in either NZ or AUS with the number of the rear seal dimensions.

Thanks for the info, seems to be plenty of sites on the net that can supply those VITON seals so I'll get the old ones out to get the sizes and see about prices.
