Default ISCV question? High idle.

does the ISCV work all the time, or only when the engines cold?

my cars developed some stupid idleing habbits since it had a good spirited drive the other day, idles at 1500 rpm cold, 2000 rpm when warmed up, could the ISCV do that?

I thought it may of been TPS (again!) but if i unplug that the idle increases again and goes a bit eratic in general (hunting ETC)

Another thing that may or may not mean something, on overrun, from higher up the rev range, 4k rpmish, if i tapped the throttle gently it would pop and bang with each tap, since i have had this problem, i have noticed it doesn't do that, may be unrelated, but u never know, anyone got any ideas?

If it was after a spirited drive you may have blown off a little vacuum pipe off the inlet manifold causing an air leak

thanks for the suggestion, ive had a good poke around and cant hear anything, doesn't seem to be any off, they are all cable tied on too, its not behaving like a vacume pipe either.

Forgot to say, if i unplug the iscv, it makes no difference at all to how the cars behaving.

As said it's an air leak, check the inlet manifold gasket etc.

The ISCV could be physically stuck, that way unplugging it makes no difference.

I'd check anything that admits air, right down to the inlet manifold gasket, in case worked a tiny bit loose, it's amazing how little air a engine needs when not under load for high rpm, I think dodgy iscv though.

thanks for all the comment chaps, spot on as usual, had a good poke about and it had obliterated the plenum gasket.
All sorted now and running like a dream!
