Default Where is temperature transmitter

Switched on the ignition only and the temp gauge went right off the dial so assuming it is the sender unit where is it on a 4x4 Sapphire Cossie, not that I have much chance of getting one over here but may be it cross references with a Mustang of Thunderbird or something like that as a sender is a sender aint it?

turbo side of the head at the front, single wire going to it, easy fix, 1/2 inch spanner and have the replacement in your hand ready to screw in as water will come out. if you lose lots of water dont forget to top up the header tank

edit to say MSD or matt lewis off here sells them

I aint got one there not even a wiring harness only going into alternator. Have got 3 at the back of the engine inlet side , one is ECT sender plus 2 more may be oil pressure and the other one might be temp. Is 4x4 (200 block) different from 2wd (205 block) as to where the sender is?

As said 4wd is on the inlet side of head at rear in the little alloy bit that the heater pipe goes onto.

gauge going straight to max. indicates a short circuit to earth. could be the sender, but also check the wiring has not been nipped anywhere

mine was like this; you could wiggle the sender and the insides were moving about freely - easy fix as said

Tried to pull the wire connector of and the sender came to bits Guess this is the problem but why oh why did they put the sender in first and then build the car around it!! What to take off first, oil filter, plenum chamber, inlet manifold or engine out got any ideas?????

Ya can get it out without taking any of that stuff off, its a bit tricky but just use a deep socket and extention bar etc.
Good luck regards steve.
