as a ford enthusiast ive always been into the blue oval from a young age ive had rs turbos xr2's a saph cosworth and a focus rs not to mention 1.3 escorts when i passed my test and a few mk2 orions.
the car ive always wanted is a 3dr cosworth in moonstone blue how much would i get a good one for and whats the bits to look for when viewing one thanks in advance

for a good one i would think around the 8k mark, you may not get service history or low miles for that money but should be rot free which is the main problem now body pannel supplies have run out. They do seem to be creaping up in price though..

check for rot around the inner wing turrets, passenger side seems to be more prone, also check for repairs here as they get plated and the problem just comes bacl twice as bad, remove the header tank if you can to get a good look. rear chassis rails are also prone as are sills etc ect.

What chops says,, but get the best one that you can afford and deffo have look at a few before you hand over any cash.

12-15k is my budget lads so i should get a belter for that type of money eh ive got an everyday car so the sierra would just be for the wkds or when im back onshore which isnt a lot lol

you should be looking at a very good example at that price mate.

As well as the usual service history/mileage/recall checks check the panels for ford stamps on the front wings.

I just bought the 1st one I saw................infact didnt even know much about cossies..............infact never been in a RS..........

Perhaps I am not the best person to be giving advice

for that money it should be under 45k miles, and be near show standard.

should have original panels, paintwork may have happened in it life, either due to stone chips or possilbly a minor knock.

everything should work faultlessly.


good luck hunting good ones are very very very rare.

loads of 8k ones, but imo unless your very lucky you'll have a loosing battle with rust, and age of parts need replacing.

Finding a car thats straight, genuine panels, not on the hit list is very rare. I had to go for a car that was straight with full history but in need of some TLC but i'm there now but at a cost of around £10-11k. Their is cars advertised for £8k but you'll only need to spend serious cash, Tabz off here is selling the car he picked up earlier in the year, looks good in the photos and low mileage.
