Comp strut and TCA failure pics
So a good sized rock at the hill climb this weekend and this is what happened.
Notice the bending of the TCA, which were sold to me as being Burton Power ones, but based on what I've seen from the Burton Power catalog, I don't believe they actually are, but instead are probably also from Comp Brake or Rally Designs.
So now I have a couple of problems to resolve before the next event in September.
But, the car was amazing. Dialed in the camber, caster, and toe in the front to as close as I could get to Ford Motorsports specs and the handling of the car was phenomonal compared to how it used to be. It actually handled and was predictable. Took second place in 2WD and won more money than I spent to do the event. the breakage actually happened during a fun run after the race with my codriver driving, and he was being super conservative, just had some bad luck.

Grant....
That`s what they are designed to do in the event of an accident, the comp struts bend and absorb the impact, sacrificing themselves instead of your chassis leg and making the repairs to the vehicle a bolt on affair...
Would you prefer your suspension parts survived but your bodyshell is destroyed ?

Didn't say anything bad about them. Just sharing pics. Nothing like 14 miles on new parts before destroying them though.
We're probably designing new ones though since 50 pounds to ship stuff every time would get a little cost prohibitive. That and Comp Brake hasn't gotten back to me about ordering replacements for the components that need replaced.

Don't you mean the weak dollar?
When I used to be an importer for Demon Tweeks, it was 1.4 pounds per dollar, now it's 2! Unfortunately, the UK doesn't make it easy to move from here to there or else I totally would. Still trying though. Rally in the US is a joke by world standards, not to mention the fact the distances to even get to events and prices of petrol.

I'll do that. I've now emailed Comp Brake twice about replacing just the bent part of the compression struts and they have yet to reply. They were super quick when I was buying a complete set, but don't appear to be interested in just components.

We actually have many competition crews that buy 2 or more sets of these items in one go 1 set on the car and 1 set in service.
They can then be changed in the service area or even by the side of the road when you take a hit like that, you can then carry on in the competition without having to jig the chassis of the vehicle and all the hassles that brings.
Wheels coming off are commonly associated with magnesium and alloy parts.
They are designed to snap/sheer rather than bend, but do offer the weight savings.
It is amazing though how simple components can totally transform the handling characteristics of the vehicle. Im glad you have found that out.
Drop me a line if you need direct help with parts.
