Who uses one at 600+?

You never seen the bore size of em as they go thru the boxes on 3dr/Saff ones then?

A mongoose system isn't that much louder than any of the others lol, and its hardly going to attract much attention from the cops. Cossys only really make a big noise at full chat, and you arent going to be doing that with officers around are you... lol

Its only shit heaps like novas and civics that attract attention from the cops, because they make the most loudest and hidious noises even when they are at 2k lmao. (usually becuase of the fact the little chav driving it has put some stupid oversized can on the back)

Unless your running a side exit exhaust or anti lag I can't ever see a cossy attracting too much attention in the exhaust department

Personally, I find my Mongoose loud, but it's silent at idle. It's loud even at low revs when under load, you labour the engine it's loud.

Mongoose is the best imo and lots of people ive spoken with also agree that they are less restrictive than others on the market BUT just to make sure i have had the middle box taken out believe me my cossie gets lots of attention with 30psi going through it

As above,Mongoose would be my choice.

Scorpions have got a much smaller bore inside the silencer than the rest of the system, have seen it with my own eyes when my m8 removed the middle box from his scorpion system.

Blue flame if just a mongoose with bolted conections instead of sleaves.

The old Magnex systems are good aswell, they are also quiet as they run 3 boxes.

At the end of the day people buy Cossies 'cos they have potential for massive cheap power, so you should buy the exhaust that's best at giving you that power, the Mongoose.

People keep saying the Mongoose system is loud...my Blueflame is exactly the same as a Mongoose, apart from the flanges, but my system is very quiet for a cossie??

Mark Shead,
You used one on the escort cossie, in the feb 95 copy of fast car, and I couldn't see why they would be different in performance terms from a sierra one.
Too much crap is said by too many people who have a vested interest in selling you a different make, until they start selling the one you wanted and then it is the best.

On my cosworth there's a Supersprint exhaust system. Its's only 2,5 inch so not the best for big power, but the sound of it really is super. In car you dont have the nasty resonance sound when cruising on the highway at 120km/h (say 3000rpm). My previous cosworth had a Mongoose. It sounded awesome outside, but incar it could be a headache maker..

Dont know if Supersprint sells any 3 inch systems. Just want to give my experience with it.

i have a magnex on mine, nice and quiet when taking it easy, but once the throtle is opened its a different kettle of fish, sounds lovely.
i bought it new and binned the mongoose, could feel the difference in bottom end torque straite away, quality system imo.

Scorpion have got a small back box,and bigger middle box,and sure it says scorpion on underside of back box.

Mongoose has got a massive back box, which is polished, and a small cherry-bomb shape middle box.

Hope that helps.

I have a bespoke collins exhaust on my car, been on it since 1991 lol. Its a lot louder than both magnex and mongoose systems!

I've been thinking about changing to a blueflame as they seem to be getting good write ups.

my escort rs cab had a scorpion pipe on it with a 4 inch tailpipe,i took it to ava and they told me it was holding the car back,it made 138 bhp atw, approx,i fitted a magnex which they still moaned about and that made 164 bhp atw,i made a couple of other small mods but the exhaust did reduce from about 2.5 inches to 2 inches as it went through the rear silencer.the 1 i have now isa like that.my pal has a mongoose and the noise inside the car is unbearable on long journeys, especially in the back.anybody else recommend the magnex?

Col cos1,
YES I have a scorpion on at the mo, I threw away a 3 month old mongoose that the car had when I bought it, as punishment for giving me a three month headache!!
I also had the car on the rolelrs before the scorp was fitted, and after, not because of any problems just a check.
The low end torque improved noticeably with the scorp, but little on the rollers.
My experience of different exhausts is this,
Scorpion nice and quiet on the inside, and nice noise outside.
Magnex F*****G noisy on the inside too quiet outside.
Mongoose, way too bloody loud all the time inside/outside and crap noise, though others like it.
I couldn't say there was any noticeable quality difference between these three, they were all excellent first class quality, and well worth buying the one YOU want.
tabetha
ps the reason why I threw away,(after chopping up) the mongoose was the piss take prices some were offering for it second hand ranging from Ł30-Ł70, that's with me posting it as well.

I have a mongoose and don't find it loud, In fact the turbo causes more of a noise than the exhaust, never had anything else on so can't comment on them but find the mongoose good build quality I am running a gunship conversion and have no complaints about the exhaust other than ground clearance, but think all single pipe exhaust have the same problem, although I think there is a mongoose twin pipe system about now.
