Default another fuel pump question

When rewiring the pump i know to use the 2 orig wires from pump as switching for the relay, but do i plug the earth wire into the earth on relay and take a new earth wire from the pump to a good new earth point on chassis?
I think this is how most have done theirs but just have that doubt i not remember right Doh.
Also i will be taking a live direct from battery to relay in boot and from relay to pump etc.
Cheers again fellas. steve

on your new relay you use your original earth for the switching side on term 85 or 86 cant remember which, and then as you say use a new earth from the pump to the chassis i used the rear anti roll bar!

I would use a new earth and live, straight from the battery, the chassis where it is exposed is going to build up a high resistance.
14/030 wire is more than suffecient for this, use the live after the cut out, so keeping that in circuit.
If you look behind the rear seat on the metalwork near the top there is a 8mm hole that is just right for securing a relay holder to, you can then take the relay out as an added security measure, if at shows etc.
