There are repro sets of the strips available - try Duncan at Automotive. I fitted them to mine and they are superb. I have another number of the firm that makes them but not to hand I'm afraid. Anyone got it??
Here's a 'just fitted' pic
Early 2wd saff clocks are a straight swop, only the rev counter is different as it doesn't have the turbo boost in it.... but not the later ones. Look at the centre led area and you'll soon spot the later ones as different.
In this pic the bottom one is 3dr and top without the glass is an early saff.

There a set on fleebay now but they are already at Ł100!!

AMI (Nick Phelps) Model makers manufacture the new ones but expect to pay around Ł60 on top of that. Mind you they are spot on - only the alloy backing is missing which you don't ever see. Does make them tricky to fit but with care it can be done very well.
One of mine rather famously came off at Silverstone and he replaced it free of charge as that set had bad glue. New ones are on solid

Thanks guys...
I went to see a 3dr replica a few days ago and it was missing quite a few bits including the speedo and the door strips, But decided not to buy it as it was just to tatty and needed a full respray which I got a quote for Ł1400.
So I am no longer looking for the door strips and speedo but the complete car!!
I am new to the forum and I am loving it especially all the 3drs..
Cheers

Lots of folk think that mate (clocks) but all the early saffs had them. I admit that it caught me out too but I have the microfische now and thats what they came with. Even the plugs in the loom were the same as on the three doors initially.
Details such as numbers appeared on the fuel gauge later too. Since discovering this I've grabbed a couple as they go much cheaper than 3dr sets. Watch out for those E platers
No idea how to change your name Ray (as per other post) why not keep it - its nice to be a bit wierd on here
I know of a 3dr rs500 replica near me but same story with paint etc. I think he wants around 2k for it. Not sure when it last ran, sometime last summer. Nudge me if you want to know more - but it needs side strip too and things aint cheap are they!!!

If your building a rep, why not go for a touring car replica? Stickers may not be cheap but a complete replica set is still gonna be cheaper than a full respray and it would hide alot of previous dodgy paint. Also if going for a touring car rep you can strip the inside out and fit a pair of buckets....cheaper than buying a decent complete 3dr interior....and the weight lose will make up a little for your lack of power. If you doing a race rep, you've got a more to play with ie you can get away with a few wrong parts. Doing a full on 3dr replica, if your doing it all properly will get very costly imo.

Cossie604, That is not a bad idea buliding a touring car rep but unfortunatly my building skills is not really up to par and I have limited space here in London to do any work on cars.
Andypen, Sounds good! Have you any info or pictures of the RS500 Rep? I dont mind spending money on a good rep base model as long as its in good condition to start with so I know the outcome will be worthwhile.
The one I saw was a complete mess and every panel on the car had a fault and it looked like someone used a paint brush to paint it.
Cheers

ouch that sounds bad. The one I know about was put to one side when the guy had to go into hospital so i don't how how it faired over the winter outside. The interior was really good and as mentioned here you could flog it and get a good few quid back. It was running a v6 granada engine though - how would insurance work for you on that?
I have some photos on my home machine somewhere hopefully - will try and dig out a phone number too.
Some of the kit on it was definitely fibre glass from what i could see - that might bother you??

I did see a White one on the bay. But a white car I can live with any colour as long as its
moonstone blue or black !!! I think I am just to fussy
I was thinking of getting a escory cossie rep, but they are just to popular..

The RS500 one around here is white mate - sorry!!
Indy mate, I've only ever seen the two that I took out of scrapped / broken E platers but when I checked out the microfische the change point was deffo beyond the 3dr point. Gary from RS Cosworth breakers in Portsmouth had one down there on an E as well, it was the first time I'd heard of it, but it went before I got there.
I've got some genuine Ford wiring diagrams here somewhere too - will dig them out and see what they say - maybe it was just a handful done like this and I struck lucky then?
