ABS Front sensor - stuck in!!
I've been reading about 'em on here and went to remove mine to clean it yesterday. The nut came off easy and the sensor now spins in the hole, but its is really tight. Tried to pull it out and even used a screwdrive as a lever. No joy!!
I'm afraid of it breaking or getting too knackered - any ideas anyone?

I need to get a sensor out because the cable is worn through thanks to not being clipped out of the way, and I have an XR4x4 hub with a good sensor that is seized solid, even after a good soaking with WD40. Hopefully someone has a suggestion.

I think if you heat the hub up it might melt the sensor. I took my hub completly off cause i was changing it anyway. I used a small flat faced punch and a hammer and gently tapped the sensor out. It was slightly bent when it came out but the sensor still works. Its a bit dodgey but it worked for me,it was rather that or pay 100quid for a new sensor.

Had he same problem, had to just stab the fooker with a screwdriver and some drill bits for about an hour till i got it out. I think your best just trying to get a 2nd hand sensor off ebay or a breaker, their not expensive unless u go to Ford!
XR4x4/ 2L DOHC 4x4 ones are the same

I got mine out of the spare hub today!
I used a big grinder and cut the steering knuckle off to get some space. Then cut a series of slots around one side of the sensor stopping just short of the sensor.
Then used a hammer and a big chisel to snap one of the weak points then hinged it back and fore till it snapped off and voila - the sensor is out.
There was a rubber O ring around it but it had perished so badly that I don't suppose it was going to be re-usable anyway.
Obviously this is only useful if you have a spare hub but I did and it was easier for me than fitting new bearings, and swapping the hub over.
Now, is there any way to test the sensor off the car before I go and fit it?

The way i usually remove them is to very gently lever one side with a medium flat blade screwdriver whilst gently gripping the sensor with a pair of pliers and twisting while you lever.
This does take a fair while but will eventually work free!
Use plenty of WD40 though!
