looking for a new turbo

was after a t34 but im a bit confused with exhaust housings

what is the difference between .48 and .68
does one give more power than the other ect more lag and so forth i dont know :? :?

so if you could help me out i would appriciate it

cheers justin :top:

LHD220Turbo 04-02-2008 07:34 AM

my understanding is this:

.48 - boost will come in earlier in the rev range but tail off towards the top end

.68 - boost will be later, but it will keep going until later in the rev range

bigger the housing the more lag

i could be completely wrong tho!

I have a T34.48 on my car and love it. :top:

Really, really punchy without ridiculous lag, and for a road car makes all the power you could need. Its boosting by 2.5k revs.

LHD220Turbo thanks :fuck:

Changing from .48 to .63 hope i like it. :DD:

What are you hoping for with the .63? My car is standard head/bottom end with 500 cooler etc, and will run 403 bhp on the .48 turbo. It is currently running less than that though.

I think this is a figure that may be disputed around here, some people say no T34 will make over 400bhp etc.

Whatever, I run T34 .63 with greens and I find it's laggy. Plan to go Greys in the future, to get enough power to make the lag worthwhile. Or... go .48, but that's gay! :gay:

It is also complete crap about the T34 with .48 tailing off at the top end.
Mine peaks at 330lb ft, and holds this past 6300rpm, with a .48 housing.
I have little lag, 150lbft at 1500rpm, my old T3.48 tailed off at 4500rpm big time, torque wise.
As a general rule, the housings do work as said, larger turbine will give more lag, but less oomph higher up nad be limited compared to a larger turbine, but by then maybe the compressor side will also be too small.
I always subscribe to the idea of why have a large laggy turbo if you dont need it, unless you don't mine the type r method of driving with loads of revs all the time.
Mine will keep up with city traffic comfortably from 1500rpm, and certainly by 2000rpm you cannot detect any noticeable lag.

I've had this on the main board last night! All I know is that I have a dyna pack dyno graph showing my car running 403, and had it confirmed to me by PJ @ PJ Motorsport on Sat that it did it. It is mapped for V-Power only with a fair bit of playing with the ignition.

Anyway, its not running that power now, but I still love how punchy the turbo is. Prob not so good for track, but on the road the way it drives is ideal. :top:
