Default INFO ON SAPH'S

hey guys, i am looking to get a sierra saph cossie in the future. but i am wondering could i use it as a family car aswell. r they very noisey wen your driving it. i mean can you talk to the wife without having to shout. r they smoothe on the road or do you feel every bump in them. is it a cruiser as well as a beast. could you drive in comfort on a long journey.
i have a fiesta turbo and the noise of the engine wen your driving on the motor way is kinda loud and you could not hear the radio and you also feel every bump in the road. you could not drive it on a long journey cause your back would be broke thats for sure.

so let me know guys please and thanks.

as big mac said it all depends on the exhaust and suspension, but get the right one and it will be a great family car, although you have to remember they are a saloon so getting a big pushchair in the boot maybe quite difficult.

I have got my Dad's old saff, which he had when I was about 13 and my brother 15 and that was used as a daily family car, we used to go round the whole country towing the caravan with it during the holidays as well.

At the disagreement with others on PF I think that cossies are toys to have and for me I wouldn't have one as an everyday/family car.

As said above ride quality and noise levels are dependant on what suspension set up and exhaust you have but they can be driven around smoothly off of boost

However you do get a lot of attention in cossies and people can be annoying sometimes in trying to goad you into putting your foot down, now I love a good blast but sometimes just wanna chill and get pissed off with twats sitting on my bumper or trying to cut me up cos I'm driving a cosworth, but with that said they are great cars to drive, as the saying goes drive one before you die

fuck the push chair, leave that at home . i can tell you one thing i am living in ireland i have been a fan of the cossie saph for a long time and i saw my first one in ireland last year and it was english reg since then i saw a white one in an irish reg. they are so rare over here. they would not know wat it was until it came up and bit them. thats the truth

i have a fiesta 2.1zetec turbo running 275bhp and 1.9cvh tall block fiesta turbo. running about 220bhp i left a subaru legacy b4 twinturbo, 4 wheel drive 280 bhp standard sitting. ur man did not have a clue. in ireland they r all into jap cars, and the good old ford is imbarrising the shit out of them.
its so funny. you cant beat the ford,

It certainly is, I had it 5 years ago when him and my mum split up as he didn't want to get rid of it but didn't have any where to keep it so as a kind son I offered to take it off his hands. But then the misses put her two pence in and said it had to go, so my dads brother said he would have it, he has had it for the last 5 years but back end of last year he needed the space so it had to go, and again being a kind nephew and son I took it back off his hands. The wife as she is now still thinks its going in a few months and that it was only a stop gap having it round mine, little does she know that my Dad has given it to me

Ive got a scorpio exhaust on mine and its not to loud at all. It feels a bit bumpy on the road but it has got 17s on it with 40 profile tyres. I think it might be better with the standard wheels on. They are a nice car to drive mate and you dont half get the looks.

As everyone else said depends on Suspension and Exhaust setup noise wise, I personally do not think there everyday cars (By this I mean commuting and runing down to shops ETC) especially tuned ones as pretty expensive to run and I tend to worry about leaving it (Getting damaged, Stolen ETC) but on the other hand it would make a lovely car for a family drive, big and spacious and comfortable and big boot as well.

Good luck

Sorry to revive an old thread, but, I've just changed from an E46 BMW 320d ES touring, into a 1989 380bhp 2wd sapph.

i find it just as easy to drive as the BM, I have 2 kids and a wife than can find fault with anything, even shes doesnt mind it to much. I think when i take the 17's off and put the standards back on it will be even better.
