start problem
hello,
I've a standard 2wd sierra saph cosworth
since a few week's I have some starting problems
whem I drive the car for example 30 min. so he's hot and I stop it and turn it off.... then 5min later I want to start the car again but it won't go!!
the start motor works (turns) and I hear the feul pump working, but the engine won't go turn on
when I do this 10 times the engine finaly turn on, but sometimes I've to wait some minutes...
When I start the car in the morning for the first time it starts perfect from the first try! and when I wait a fwew hours it olso no problem....
I don't now what can be the problem...
Have change the ECU but nothing... the fuse box looks also OK ....
Hase anyone some suggestions?

I had a similar fault with my saff 4x4 cossie. When it was getting warm and driving along it would just cut out leave it for about 5/10 mins and then it would start. I changed the fuel filter cause it was full of black crap. Can you hear the fuel pump relay and ecu relay clicking when your trying to turn the engine over.It might even be a faulty coolent temp sensor.

As above i had similar prob, usually its cured with ECT sensor but mine was the fuel pump not giving enough pressure and also the filter was full of black crap. Good luck.

If the ETC sensor is faulting it could be putting to much fuel in the engine or not enough. But if it was putting to much fuel in i think you might be able to smell it. My cossie came with a full service history but the fuel filter had never been changed. It had a date stamped on the side from june 1992.

When it does not start you need to see if it is sparking ?, it is most likely a dodgy joint but could be lots of places.
The fuel filter will not stop it from starting like this, it would have more impact when cold as fuel flow is higher, but you would also have loss of bottom end power big time, would be ok on boost but lacking bottom end power all the time and come in with a wallop.
