thank you orion crazy carl that is new to my list

and thank you carl s yours is also new to my list

i dont know the exact number and tbh i dont think anyone does, i`ve heard all sorts of numbers over the years but the one that i can see as quite realistic was just under 400.

with all cyrstal blue cars being at least 19 years old im pretty sure that in that time a rather large number has died in action and there are propably a few out there hidden away that no one knows about ect.

Just joined the forum as I'm thinking about getting a Sapphire Cossie next year to fullfill a lifetime plan!! F515 XKF is mentioned earlier in the thread- that brought back some memories as I worked at Turbo Systems back in the early ninties and it was owned by them...it was constantly developed and eventually evolved into "Desert Storm" their 500+ BHP demonstrator with gold and silver tiger stripes etc but still in Crystal Blue paint.. I have some old photos somewhere I'll have to scan them in. I does indeed have a towbar as it was used to tow the family boat at weekends in the summer, it also used to do the school run most mornings, and this was when it was over 500 BHP! It held the record as the fastest Sapphire for a while- 178.9 MPH if I remember correctly.

Last I heard the car had been fitted with a wide arch kit and painted imperial blue but that was a long time ago.

Hope this info helps....

Kev Sharp bought desert storm and broke it. The shell was sold and i think it is being back up again somewhere in UK.

thats good to hear as it was something else with those arches and lotus bumper,i see in the pics of it above it has the alarm switch thing on the rear or the quarter panel,it still had that after it was converted, that was the only thing that let it down!

I never really liked it with the colour change and the wide arches. From what I remember the barrels on the rear quarters were actually yale locks to secure the boot

i have seen them on car doors before, but thats the 1st time i have seen them on the boot.i think it suited the arches better than the naff stickers all over it.one way to get your company noticed i suppose, must have been a ninetys thing.

I think around that time the Cosworths were pretty sought after by thieves. I guess Tony must have put them on all the doors and the boot for extra security?

I never realised the wide arched desert storm car was originally crystal blue. You learn something everyday

Graphics were very much a nineties thing- probably why Tony got rid of them! The car was full of stereo back then as well as the monster engine, hence the locks.

Glad I could be of service sorry if it's turned into a Desert Storm thread but it was Crystal Blue once!

any more ???? as above i have 73 and now i have several chassis numbers from these cars which looks to have given me an answer on when the crystal blue came in and ended.

i would be very creatful if any crystal blue owners would like to give me the chassis number (which i will not give out of cource) so i can find out the first and the last ones made.

if you are happy to give me the number please pm me rather than post it up here for safety reasons

i have a couple from jan 88 and a couple from july 88 and several in the month between them and just so you all know i do have more E platers then F`s

cheers for the lovely pics steve

i have just found another one today i was told about an ID on ebay for sale which is crystal blue and the guy gave me the plate which is new to me, i might buy it off of him just so someone else dont use it.

as i said above i would really like to add the end part of peoples chassis numbers so i can find the oldest/newest made (its the end bit i need two letters and 5 numbers) and maybe find a couple of cars that came off the line together, i do have three cars within 10 numbers of each other
