stg 3 2wd saff what headgasket and headbolts?
as above really, got the head off my saff due to a chunk missing off of a exhaust valve  and ive been thinking i might aswell stg 3 it whilst every thing is off as its currently stg 1 and i'm getting bored with the power.
will a group A headgasket be ok for stg3? headbolts or stud + nut kit? i remember a post a little while ago about studding a block but can't seem to find it :( any help much appreciated :top: |
group A and standard head bolts more then man enough for stage 3 fella :top:
|
Stud en nut buck far better than bolts...........worth the few reds if ever.,.
|
gasket
i would recommend a mls gasket for peace of mind, but a grp a would be fine.

used a Small Turbo Escos Head Gasket, better and cheaper than Group A
Make sure the top of the block is clean and free from all old gasket and surface marks, make sure the head is true and flat clean both surfaces with a good cleaner (panel wipe or brake cleaner, don't forget to clean the head bolt thread out, throughtly) and fit the gasket dry without any sealant use standard head bolts torqued up correctly this is perfectly fine for stage 3 setup |

Is the small turbo headgasket better than the standard large turbo cossy ones and the Group A headgasket? If so how, in stucture and what could it handle up to all day long? Oh and what are they priced at approx? cheers |
grp a gasket and std bolts will be fine for this application.
|
thanks for the replys people :top:
got a grp A head set from woodford garage motorsport the other day first time ive used them and was very impressed with the service (good price reductions over the phone if you have a bigish list like i did  ) and how quick it was delivered will be definatly using them again :D |

Ok peeps what about this? Who thinks what is better ? ;)

s1robinb am no expert but from the posts, comments and discussions ive gatherd on PF and in general that a Group A headgasket will be more than upto to the job for a stg3.
Some peeps reckon its even good for upto 400bhp. Alternatively as ive just learnt the standard small turbo escort cosworth headgasket is just as good. Infact better than a group A headgasket and much cheaper :top: Ive been told don't bother with a stud & nut kit (if u mean ARP) for the headbolts. The std headbolts are good enough for this kind of power. And regarding the Cometic one i've heard that the face of the Block and Head have to true & straight as possible for a good seal. If not your asking for it. From what ive summed up if it was me ill go for the std small cossy headgasket if not then a Group A one with std headbolts. Like i said i aint no expert pls seek further advise before make a decision. Ive just posted what i've been learning from here. Anyone if am wrong pls correct me Hope that helps Good Luck |
