On eBay cheapest is £6.25 delivered - am I better going to Fords?

Oh fuck I give up on that eBay store, can't find the oil filters :(

Anyway, is it the tall filter or the short one on a 4x4 Cossie or can it take either?

escort mk6 08-08-2007 02:38 PM

tall one :)

Now I've been told that the short filter is for the 4x4!

KSA-Cossie 03-09-2007 03:08 PM

Long one is for 4x4 .

TurboShed 03-09-2007 03:22 PM

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Ok, so it's DEFINITELY the long one for my 1991 H plate 4x4 Sapphire Cos then???

Champion C102 was the long one I bought originally, was told today that no I needed the short one, so I exchanged it for a short one...

Paul_RS 03-09-2007 05:57 PM

You need the long one for a 4x4 because it doesn't have the oil cooler thingymajob the 2wd cossie has, which prevents a long one being used on the 2wd.

mechanic28 03-09-2007 09:38 PM

as above long one!and just go to fords i do cheaper then u think :top: and get a new sump plug/washer as well

tabetha 04-09-2007 05:18 AM

Put sealant on the sump plug threads and it stops all the drips too.

If you had cut open a BRAND NEW EFL 298(cos 2wd) filter as I did, you might think twice about using them, I certainly will try to find a decent alternative from now on!!

dakar 04-09-2007 06:54 PM

Why is that?

tabetha 05-09-2007 05:33 AM

Very small filter media area, and rust inside the brand new filter.
This filter had sat in my garage for a couple of weeks, in a SEALED UP FOOD BAG(freezer bag), as I put things in these to stop dust/grit etc getting to them, so had never got wet.

TurboShed 05-09-2007 07:22 AM

So I'm dying to know, why did you cut the filter open?

tabetha 05-09-2007 04:23 PM

Just to see what they were like internally, not sure I wanted to know as used to have faith in OE filters, not Ford ones anymore I don't!!
The one I cut open had been POSSIBLY contaminated, with iron filings, as had a bit of a mishap making some thermite!!
