cosworth front crank seal
 
how hard is it to change the front crank seal, does the sump nead to come off.
can you pull the old one out and push the new one in.

Bit fiddly, NO, YES, YES!!
Bit fiddly as it is a bit shrouded by the front cover , it has a stop inside so can't go wrong really.
Just use a VITON seal when you do it, NOT a ford seal as they are useless.
If you go to a seal supplier tell them it is 42 - 56 - 7, this is the dimension of the seal, also the same as jackshaft.

Look in YELLOW pages for a seal supplier, just quote the number given, and tell them you want viton, if you have a problem PM me.

The only problem ive encounted whilst changing pinto/yb front mains seals is some times the crank cam belt pully can seize on solid...not fun :wall:
