the p/steering fluid gets cooled in the cooler by air, so it will be p/steering fluid in the cooler mate

the pas circuit is very simple - the pas oil gets pressurised by the pump, then runs thru the rack and back thru the cooler pipe to the reservoir. as RSrussell say, the oil should then be cooled by air as it goes thru this long length of pipe usually copper for good heat transfer). some cars actually place this cooling line in front of the radiator to get maximum cooling during movement or from a fan when in traffic. on a cossie, the oil is back to low pressure at this point so you can easily replace this pipe and hold it together with jubilee clips or whatever (unlike the high pressure side which needs proper crimped pipes).
