split boost pipe, lazy MAF, EGR fault

slight issues with any of the above will give poor MPG and no lights on

A 54 plate car is likely to be a Euro4, so you would potentially get fault codes with the EGR.

The MPG is waaaay too low, so something's definitely not right.

Does it feel fast?

does feel fast had a brand new egr valve fitted when i picked it up from the garage .
when turbo kicks in its quite loud like an after burner sound would it sound like this normally or could that be the noise coming from a split boost pipe seeing as this is the first one i have had and always had this noise in the 2 weeks i have owned it
thanks for replys so far also lead to believe its euro 3 due to the egr valve not having an electrical connector.

If it's a 'Whoosing' sound, then it's a splitpipe.

See here if it is, and I'll sell you a silicone one for half the price for a standard Ford one!

my 07 plate does 52-56 on a run but I've remapped it.

Before the map it was doing 47mpg. My previous one was known to average 37mpg.

Try changing the fuel filter and put some injector cleaner through it, also check all the hoses for leaks, even check for fuel leaks.

Wink ST 2.2 TDCI Mondeo

Hi,I am reading posts with interest. My car is a 2007 model with 66000 on the clock. It is Bluefinned and goes very well. It is doing 34.4 mpg around town at the present time. It averaged 43.3 mpg on a run from Portsmouth to Edinburgh last year travelling at around 85mph. I wll check the EGR valve as this could account for obviously low MPG. Changing the subject, I was followed by a friend last week who called me to tell me that my brake lights were on all the time he was following me. I checked this out next day. The brake lights were working properly with no other lights on, but came on all the time when other lights were on. The front spotlights were also coming on when the brake pedal was used. The traction control light was also coming on when road conditions were OK. I took the car to an Auto Electrician and told him of my findings. 20 minutes later the problem was sorted. A wrong rear bulb had been fitted by the previous owner and one of the plugs in one rear light was not correctly fitted. Result or what!!!

A few years down the road I know but if you can remember did the egr give you any signs it was faulty or did you just replace it. I have a Mondeo 2.2 TDCI and I'm getting poor mpg on a run and around town. I've cleaned the egr and still no difference.
