subframe off first of all fella.not that much of a shitter but damn heavy if u plan on doing it on the floor.
be careful when putting subframe back as it has to be lined up or the tracking n castor etc will be out and it will drive like one of those circus bikes lol

yup, sunframe out jobbie
only 4 21 or 22 mm bolts in each corner really, but it's all the rest of the stuff that's conencted to it like the ipes and steering rack etc that are going to be a pain in the arse
then you realise why garages want to charge you Ł900 for the preivilige
still, you've got to drop the subframe to do the arb bushes too so get them done while it's out

4 21mm bolts hold the subframe to the body,4 10mm bolts hold the plates on to the rear subframe bolts.2 18mm bolts hold the steering rack to the subframe.2 15mm nuts hold the anti roll bar links to the struts. tie the radiator up at the top.4 10mm bolts hold the boost pipes to the subframe.
2 pinch bolts hold the bottom ball joints in. drop subframe.prise off gear cables.2 10mm bolts hold the gear cable bracket.
13mm bell housing bolts.
can you tell i do a few
usually allow about 4 hours on a ramp with air tools taking it easy.

Easy enough job really, just a heavy cunt of a box !!!
Not the best job to do if you are doing it on the floor but have done a few like this, would allow the best part of a day doing it on the floor, can be done in around 4 or 5 hours on a ramp and a lot easier !
Ł900 to get this done at a garage :shoc ked:: shocked:
I do them for folks in my own place at nights and weekends for Ł250 supplying and fitting the clutch kit.
Great job when you have done a few and know exactly whats involved, i use subframe locating pins so the frame goes back into the correct position it should do, causes all sorts of tyre wear and handling problems if its not lined up spot on.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
As said subframe is the PITA bit of this job, you might want to get a rear crank seal, as the tend to weep and its a gear box out to replace, they only tap into place and is a quick job whilst the box is out.
An independant Ford specialist did mine for me Ł800 and i bought the clutch (3 piece),flywheel myself off my ford mate

Spend a weekend up in the Highlands mate and come up and get the job done !!
I got my subframe alignment pins off ebay mate, think they were only about Ł20, i'll have a look and see if i can post you up a link for them. If you are doing the job yourself its worth making sure this part of the job is done right as have driven one or two that just had the subframe thrown back in place and been quite a bit out of alignment and they were fucking terrible on the road !!!

Fucking hell !!!!!
Did a 2002 Mondeo about month ago on the ramp at my work, started about half 5 and drove the car off the ramp just before 10, job done and out the door, charged the guy Ł150 and he was delighted ( he supplied the clutch and flywheel )
Would do these all day long if was getting that kind of money for doing them, 30 quid an hour thank you very much !!

mate leave the sub frame on just drop it on the n/s un do the anti roll bar link n/s undo the steering colume off the rack [inside the car] then carry on as normal. Then when the box is ready to come out bar the sub frame down to make the gap bigger and move the box over this leaves plenty of room to change the clutch and flywheel. Done loads this way takes me 2-3 hours and no need to line the sub frame up when done.

I had my clutch replaced at 108,000 in Feb 2010 the car did 2000 miles on the new clutch (replaced with standard clutch, flywheel, and new clutch release) the bearing on the new clutch release failed destroying the clutch, it was all replaced and I have done 3,500 and it is beginning to play up again.
Any one had this problem???
I will probably do it myself this time as I cannot seem to trust any one to do it properly, the pain is doing it with out ramps so it looks like a long job unless any one knows work arounds.
