Default Lost Keys & ECU Question Mondeo MK3 07

Bought the above said car and to cut a long story short, the keys have gone missing.
I got a guy to come out to cut & reprogram a key but he had difficultly finding the last number picking the door lock. He tried for a good hour or so but to no avail he gave up.
He told me the if I took the lock barrel out of the door and get it over to his house he would be able to do it.
Anyway, now he is ramped out with work and don't no when he could book it in to do it.
Question - A friend suggested that I buy a ECU with the door lock, ignition barrel & key and should be easy to remove the one on the car and install the new one as ECUs are plug & play?
Now I don't know jack about car electricals and would like to no if its just as easy to replace the ECU and locks like I've been told or is they other programming and coding to be done as I know the injectors need coding to the ECU but don't know whether this or any other part will need to do this?
Any help would be great..
Thanks
PS Does any know how to remove the ignition barrel without damaging the steering lock and also to remove or open the bonnet catch?

You will need to have the injectors and probably the pump coded to the ecu before it will run. I'm not sure how much the gem unit talks to the ecu, weather it's a plug in job or weather that will need coding too.

So no, certainly not just a plug and play job.

I would be looking to program new keys or more specifically new rdif chips to your existing ecu with a diesel. An older petrol would be a no brainier to just replace the ecu.

Find some one else to read the lock and program the key it will be cheaper in the end rather than replacing grills and steering columns.
