mondeo tdci 03 model wont start just turns over
 

Hello all please can someone help me out ill start with what happened before car started playing up

I drove through a ford the car cut out in the water near the end of it it went in the air intake and engine cut out it was left sat in a foot of water and water came in through the sills for around 10 mins

The car was then left sat in birmingham for a week oviously damp but got as much water out that a could before leaving the car

the battery drained its self the day i left car as all electrics were wet so bought a new battery stripped car when got it home dried inside of car out

I took the injectors out got as much water out of engine as could put the injectors back in and now when i try start car with new battery its just turning over not firing

I have tried towing it off with straight bar but still no go it doesnt lock up when try turning car over

nothing seems to harm up unless you disconnect battery then ra-attach it

please can someone help there is diesel getting upto the injectors but its like the injectors aint opening to let the diesel in

To be brutally honest, its fucked

Don't spend any more money on it and either stick it on best as a non runner or break it for parts

what makes you say its fucked

Probably bent con rod or rods, it must've locked up initially before draining the water out via injectors..that'll be just as it stopped running,in the flood. I lived/worked in Worcester area during the bad floods they had a few years ago and had quite a few diesel cars in the garage that'd been in flood water..write offs..

Needs a compression test carrying out, just be warned though that the glo-plugs (where the comp test is usually done from) on these snap off very easily.

Did you put the injectors back in the same cylinder they came out of??

If not they will probably need coding in, but you will be lucky to have it running again if it has sucked up water.

Not nessesarily a write off, I have an escort estate diesel I put through water and hydro locked it, stripped the injectors out got the water out and got it running and still is three years later.

You'll need to do an oil change aswell. Check all you electric connector to the injectors. Is it flashing the glow plug light?

Not flashing plug light no

it wasnt hydro locked no took injectors out and they were replaced back as they came out

i turn car over and its like its not getting fuel but theres fuel getting to the injectors bt just wont fire up its like injectors aint letting the diesel in

does the icu inside the wing control the injectors operating as checked that and its not wet and its too high up to of even got wet

can anyone share some advice please

Will it start on brake cleaner/easy start sprayed down the intake?

Other than that it needs fault codes reading, fuel pressure testing and so on really.

If the car has just one ECU yes it controls the injectors/fuel pump and all the other gubbins, you get a 5 volt feed to the injector then the ECU grounds the injector to activate it.

Early TDCIs had 2 ECUs, one to control the injectors, other did the rest of the engine control functions.

right had injectors reconned as they were blocked put another fuel filter on new battery

when I turn the engine over the fuel pump in the tank is not activating i.e no power to it can someone help me please

had it plugged into machine to diagnose and its saying low fuel pressure

Stop wasting money on this car. How much did you spend on the injectors? 400 odd,could spend a bit more and get another car

Mondeo mk3 TDCIs don't have a lift pump in the tank. Only the early Di have an electric fuel pump external to the tank

The filter needs priming with a hand pump when fitting, if you don't you'll fill the whole thing with air and be cranking it over for ever and a day!

Would it pull through if I give it a tow in 3rd would this cause low fuel pressure when cranking engine over

Tried it with abit of easy start runs onthat it's getting fuel to first two points on fuel rail but nothing to 3 and 4

Don't understand that as the rail is one piece of pipe ie. 'common rail'

As said, it will be full of air, you need to prime the low pressure side before it will ever start, but if its been tried to start full of air it will be even harder to get running.

Once the low pressure side is primed you can try running it on brake cleaner/easy start so it will 'pick up' and then run on its own..be careful spraying too much in the intake of course....

One these have air in , they can be a bugger to get going..the trick is always to make sure its primed before you try starting it, but it's too late for that....

I've just bought a Mondeo ST, that wouldn't start (54 plate for £600), myself and a ford tech tried all sorts, plugged the computor in and it kept coming up low fuel pressure, tried tow starting it, which was quite fun as I'm running a 1.8t golf, so trying to pull the Mondeo lump mmm.

Anyways, as an earlier post says, we sprayed some brake cleaner into the turbo, it fired, little bit more, started but wouldn't rev, percivered, and it started and revs ok.

So i'd give it another go with the spray!

hello all i have a mondeo tdci mk3 130 i was getting no start pulled fuel from tank with a bollock to filter filled filter up put all pipes back on i am getting pressure to rail but still no start no glow plug light flashing like before no warning lights had plugged in and its coming back with fault code p1283 IPR circuit failure what is this and can this be stopping it from starting come so far with car dont want to be beaten and end up breaking it for spares will rewrad the person who can helkp me out cheers
