Default Ford focus 1.6 engine mods

Hi i have a 2009 ford focus 1.6 ztec s its too slow on accleration theres not pull to it what mods are recomended to make the car faster on acceleration

also the car seems high up the rev range like at 70 it sits 1 line over 3000 revs is there anything i could do to it to get better rev range instead of it screaming at higher speed ? Would a 6 speed gear box instead of a 5 do it ?

Fit a bigger engine - there really is little point spending out on the 1.6.

Change the gearset or wheelsize if you want to manipulate your gear ratios to bring down the revs @ 70. A 6 speed would be a way of doing this, or a diesel box (im not too clued up on focus derv box ratios but "usually" they will give you a taller 5th)

If you lower the rev range by whatever means, the car will pull even worse.
If you want to make it accelerate faster, you should increase the revs in at least the lower gears.

The 1600 (Sigma) is actually quite a good engine, lightweight and responsive.

Can imagine in a MK2 performance can suffer a little, due to being heavier.

The Ecoboost 1600 is based on this engine, so can't imagine it being that hard to turbo charge (you would need to lower the compression) although not the easiest route. Other than that they respond well to cam changes but as always N/A power is expensive power!

I disagree about the gearing though, I find the gearing to be tall, and the engine speed @ that roadspeed I consider to be pretty good.

Thanks martin i did look at turbo but can’t find a turno manfold for the 1.6 only find one for the 2L or above i could look at getting a custom made one and lowering the conpression but id need to do a few other bits and bobs to make it be able to take the turbo it may be alot of money but il have a look into that also one pf my mates mentioned getting bigger pistons and boring it to a 1.8 but dont know if i could do that but thats somthing im looking at too but i heard that can be exspensive
