Hi, i went to go and change my brakes this morning when my locking wheel nut key snapped inside the nut.
Does anyone know how to remove these locking wheel nuts?

I think you will need a good drill and a supply of good quality drill bits.

Maybe look for a how to on YouTube. Not sure what they are made of but a good welder can probably weld something on like a bolt and then spanner the bolt?

Wear eye protection as the drillls May snap. I have used easy outs before on bolts where you drill a hole then you just tighten the easy out and it turns the bolt.

So, just got back in from attempting to drill the locking wheel nut. I was at it for an hour and it barely even left a dent! What are these things made of? I've never come across anything like it.

I have just been having a look on the internet when i came across this locking wheel nut removal specialist. He claims he can remove any locking wheel nut in a matter of minutes! Think i'm going to have to drive down there and see if he can take them off.
I'll report back when i get back in and let you guys know how it went!

Good luck. A couple of years back the garage I used overtightened the locking nuts on my focus and snapped the key off. Took them 2 days to remove. Welding a nut on top will be your best bet. There are specialists that remove these for a living, could be worth having a look online see if there is one local. Or govto a local big tyre place, ats or quick fit etc. They may know someone who can do it. When I fit them I only nip them up, don't need to over tighten at all.

if you are drilling you will need to start with a small 2mm bit to centre the hole
then go up to a 6mm
then a 10mm
the stud is 12mm i think but it goes through a 14.5mm hole in the disc

if you go deep enough you will simply drill through the stud and the nut will fall off, meaning you only need to fit a new stud and nut

not that i've ever done this before, can't you tell i've got no experience of this

got them off in the end, thanks for all your replies.
Ended up taking them to this chap http://www.lockingwheelnutremovers.co.uk he took them off in minutes and saved me a massive headache!

He used a special tool that he said he manufactures himself! He said he does at least 5 vehicles a day. It was very interesting to watch.
