i have a ford focus mk1 2000 model with FYDA engine , 1.6 .My problem is with the gear selector , is too notchy.
My mechanic tells me to change the gear selector to fix this .( and another , when i move the lever of gears i heard a sound from coils inside )
I am from Greece and i cant find parts here, have you got any idea for this ?

gear selectors from the 1.6 1.8 and 2.0 are all the same. The selector from the ST170 (i'm not sure if there are any in Greece) will NOT fit.
There are plenty of parts on eBay, but you may struggle to find someone who will ship to europe.

I don't know if the selector in the Focus RS MTX75 box is the same, but they suffer from breaking rollpins in the selector shaft. The pin holds the selector forks to the centre shaft, and fractures over time.
As the pin weakens and fractures, gear selection gets progressively more difficult, until it eventually breaks and leaves you with no gears.
It's an easy and cheap replacement, just a new rollpin that costs a few cents/pennies
