I own a mk2 st running mod x rs on bc racing BR coilovers with literally every bush and arm replaced except the rear trailing arms as ford and dreamscience told me they look fine.

So literally any uneven road surface I'm getting an annoying tapping noise coming from the back end I've checked everything I can and tightened everything I could see and the knock is still present ... As said above everything is brand new so I am completely at a loss

I also have another knock from the front, I had the car on an mot ramp and when pulling on the drivers side inner tie rod it knocked and moved about 1mm, the arm was replaced about 1000 miles ago so it's still mint..

anyone in the Bradford/Halifax area want to give me some help

as you can see the car is well looked after and has been built to a well rounded spec so I havnt missed anything or neglected anything

Not something simple like boot latch is it?

ive tried some tape on that too to around where it hooks around the latch, but from the drivers seat it sounds like its coming from the passenger rear side buddy

Heat shields , spare wheel Jack and brace?

what about handbrake cables give them a wiggle as most knock on the brackets and or underside.

heatshields are gone as those were also hanging off, the st3 has a flat floor so i dont have a spare or a jack, ill look at those handbrake cables thats something i havnt checked, but it does sound like it could be suspension related ...

My track 911 used to make this sort of noise after we used more solid suspension mountings etc...it turned out to be the shocks moving as normal...the sound was lost when rubber was in the setup, the mounts just transmitted the sound.

so what do you suggest? ive used oem bushes and arms, nothing fancy

You just need to keep changing stuff and trying things until you find it and consider a specialist who may have experienced it before

ill have to try some aftermarket arb links and possibly some aftermarket trailing arm bushes first ... bloody cars

off topic but is that the stock inlet manifold or aftermarket?

I have seen on mk2 Focus where the actual ARB needs replacing as it's worn out where the D bushes sit.

it's the airtec one it's basically the same as autospecialists pal

the rear links are brand new too and feel tight when I've pulled on them or tried rocking using my pry bar, could be the bar it does look poor condition literally a mm of play sounds like it's flapping around in the wind when suspension is involved

as mentioned the ARB can be a culprit as changed mine to the whiteline kit and cured my rattles etc
