ST170'ish brake options

Just a quick ask really, my ST170 N/S rear brake caliper seems to be dragging on after I release the brake pedal, and also oddly when I turn around tight right hand corners ?

I've taken a quick look through the wheel in the semi dark with a torch, and the disc on the outside edge seems really pitted but smooth, the rear pad that sits on the wheel side of the caliper seems untouched, so I'm thinking that the brake caliper is only working on the inner side of the disc. I won't be able to confirm this until I take the wheel off this Saturday, but I have sprayed it with brake cleaner, which worked for all of 5 miles.

The question is, what are my options ? as I've priced up some EBC discs and pads, both front and rear, along with some braided hoses for around £500, and can sort a caliper or two rear ones through work, but other than taking apart the caliper and cleaning it, repairing it, do I have any other options, i.e up rated and improved calipers and discs all round etc ?

If anyone has done this on the ST170, and wanted to share their experiences I would appreciate it :D

Thanks :D

Sounds to me like the pads are seized in the calipers. Take it apart, grease the sliders and the pad contact area in the caliper and see what happens.

is the handbrake release lever correctly adjusted as that causes binding

I wouldn't go buying parts until you've established the cause.

I'd take the caliper off and check that everyting is moving freely. If it's only braking on one side the slide pins could be binding.

OK cheers for all the tips, I will take a real look on Saturday when I have time. I did a few hill starts and noticed the car drops unevenly when you let the handbrake off.

Again cheers :D
