Clocks fail and won't start

Hi all,

Yesterday evening i was driving home in my st170 and the clocks radio just failed on the me. The heater then blew intermittently. Once i got home and parked up i turned the engine off, waited a few mins and then turned the key to bring up the dash lights. all came back on but when i tried to start the engine didn't turn and all i got was clicking.

I left the car for an hour or so and when i went back to it it started ok. I took it for a short drive to test it and the same thing happened. The dials failed again. I asked at the local garage and they said it needed new clocks?

I have done some research and have heard you can clean one of the circuits and waterproof it with wd40 but i am unsure if this is the problem?

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Further to the last post i have tried to start the car and the battery was completely dead. Could this be an alternator problem?

if you can get it running check the volts at the battery should be over 14v,any fault codes?

if all your lights are playing up while your driving and was dead the following morning then i would say you def need a new alternator as its not holding the charge in the battery
