I'll knock £300 off for that lot
VVT is variable valve timing, on the st170 engine the vvt is on the inlet cam only and moves 60deg from 85deg btdc to 145deg btdc depending on various factor such as engine speed, throttle position etc.
When you change ecu it can be quite hard to map it unless you go for something like a DTA S60 which can alter the amount of degrees the VVT moves gradually, otherwise you can use a simple ecu such as megasquirt and it will come in at a fixed rpm.
I removed the VVT because the cams I received from piper specified fixed timings and I couldn't afford an ecu such as the S60. However you can still use the cams with VVT if you know what you're doing but you won't have 60deg movement, you'd have to restrict it to about 30 so in my eyes that isn't worth it. However, Catcams do some cams which have increased lift and duration but keep the full movement of the VVT.

Hello
The problem with DTA and Megasquirt is, that the VVT will not be controlled in his pos.!
With these´s ECU´s it just will switch between both end pos.
Cheers Mark ( www.ST2000.de )

after an engine just like this one!!
I realise that the st170 engine is long gone (), but after something just like this...Wondered if anyone is out there, offering the same or similar setup??? Budget is healthy, but certain spec is required, atleast 240-250hp.
Cheers

soonish....not urgent tho
hi there. Im looking for something for a winter project. So ideal would be within the next month or 2.
Why what you got on offer????
Ecu and tbs no biggie. Could get hold of some hayabusa tbs and modify....They produce some good power, and cost a hell of a lot of less than jenveys..Ecu, have been recommended dta s60 as can control vvt constantly.

sh1t just pmd you.. Its going in a westy, rear wheel drive. So the rods and pistons arent standard??? Cos the standard ones are pretty good anyway..Are you not looking to sell the ecu, cos thats exactly what Im after, and obviously itll be setup/mapped which would be worth a bit to me too... What work has the head/cams had? What sort of price roughly are you looking for?has it been dynod, what power is it producing?

I know im ahead of myself here... but Im on the lookout for an engine similar to this one (ive finished my current project (ended up with an s2000 engine))... or atleast a standard st170 engine on throttle bodies... not needing it till end of summer so no rush... but perhaps theres someone out there thinking theyll use it over the summer, and have other plans over the winter period? please get in contact if youve got a potential engine up for grabs.
cheers
