Focus st170....Problem's etc

Hi, thinking of purchasing an st170 engine loom and ecu as a conversion, has anyone experienced any problems with their engines? i have found an engine with 3000miles on, also does the haynes cover the st170? i.e wiring diagrams etc?

just wanna know as the cheapest engine loom and ecu i have found is gonna set me back £1850

Help appreciated, jeff :top:

Try shop around mate, know you can get that elsewhere for cheaper

Does that price include the gearbox?

st170 conversion

hi,the st170 calibration require all the units the vehicle was originally built with be connected.if this is not done the ecu slowly derates the system and you will continually loose performance.you will also need to use the same gearbox as a change of gearbox requires certain flags to be set in the ecu.again if this is not followed you will encounter a reduction in performance.depending on what you are building you may find the 2.0lr-tr focus package may be the more economical package to build with performance of up to 180bhp can be gotten with little change of mechanical parts and the right ecu.
please give me an idea of what you are building and i will tell you which way to go.
